In the heart of the Samburu County, the impact of the Pastoralist Child Foundation‘s scholarship program is spinning a narrative of hope and transformation. Today, we’re proud to share the inspiring journeys of two remarkable young women, Camilla Mpiyan Lenaingiswa and Lilian Akiru Luuyah, whose dreams have taken flight with the support of scholarships provided by COBMEX®. As a testament to our commitment to fostering positive change, COBMEX® is continuing its 7-year long partnership with PCF by supporting their life-changing initiatives, ensuring a brighter future for even more aspiring individuals in these pastoralist communities.
Camilla Mpiyan Lenaingiswa
At 18 years old, Camilla embodies determination and a deep connection to her community in Wamba, Samburu County. Awarded a PCF scholarship, funded by COBMEX®, Camilla is currently a first year student at the University of Nairobi, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management and Conservation.
Camilla’s aspirations extend beyond academic excellence; she envisions becoming a productive force in her community, contributing to the well-being of her people. Her interests, such as her love for reading novels and dancing, have made her an inspiration for young girls in her community
COBMEX® is honored to play a role in Camilla’s journey, supporting her passion for wildlife conservation and empowering her to make a lasting impact on her community.
Lilian Akiru Luuyah
At 19 years old, Lilian is a force to be reckoned with. Born in the heart of Baragoi, Samburu County, Lilian’s journey to education has been marked by resilience and determination.
Currently in her final year at Uaso Girls Secondary School, Lillian’s favorite subjects are physics, and math, which will propel her toward her dream of becoming an electrical engineer. Lilian’s passion for playing football and reading novels reflects her commitment to pursuing her goals.
Raised by a single mother in a pastoralist community that often favors boys in education, Lilian faced challenges that could have hindered her path. However, with the scholarship from PCF, Lilian found the strength to focus on her education and defy societal expectations.
COBMEX® recognizes the transformative power of education and the importance of supporting dreams that go beyond the classroom. As these young women pursue their aspirations, we are reminded that true change begins with empowering individuals to reach their full potential. Together, with the Pastoralist Child Foundation, we look forward to witnessing the continued success of Camilla, Lilian, and others whose dreams are unfolding, one scholarship at a time.
